Sharing Our Resources
by Westwinds Community Church on June 20th, 2025
One of the Practices That Helps Us Center JesusThe story of God is a story of generosity—from creation (Genesis 1), to the cross (John 3), to Jesus sending out his disciples with nothing but trust (Matthew 10).We practice generosity not out of guilt, and not out of obligation—but to center our lives in the generosity of Jesus. We share what we have— to loosen our grip on money, time, and control— a... Making and Keeping Commitments
by Westwinds Community Church on June 20th, 2025
One of the Practices That Helps Us Center JesusThe first part of the Bible—what we call the Old Testament— tells the story of a God who makes a covenant with humanity… and keeps it. It’s a story of faithfulness across generations, and in Jesus, we see that commitment embodied.Jesus is the Word made flesh— God’s promise with skin on.When Jesus taught his followers to let their “yes” be yes (Matthew... Jesus in the Word
by Westwinds Community Church on June 19th, 2025
One of the Practices That Helps Us Center JesusIn Luke 24, the risen Jesus walks with His disciples and opens the Scriptures to them—revealing how the whole story points to Him.From beginning to end, Scripture tells the story of Jesus: present at creation, born in flesh, crucified and risen, now glorified and reigning with the Father and Spirit as one God.We read the Bible through that same lens: ... Baptism and Remembering Our Baptism One of the Practices That Helps Us Center JesusJesus began his public ministry by stepping into the waters of baptism (Matthew 3).In doing so, he showed us the way—humble, surrendered, and wide open to the Spirit’s leading. When we follow Jesus into baptism, we’re saying yes to that same path. It’s a public, powerful declaration that Jesus is at the center of our ... What Jesus Really Said About Money
by Westwinds Community Church on May 13th, 2025
Most of us have a complicated relationship with money. Some of us worry we’ll never have enough. Others spend their lives chasing after more. And somewhere in between, most of us simply try to make good decisions and live responsibly. But then Jesus enters the conversation—and He takes things deeper than just smart financial planning.
In Matthew 6:19-24, Jesus says something startling: “You cannot serve both God and money.” Depending on the translation, it reads “wealth” or “riches.” But the original word Jesus used was the Aramaic term mammon. This word does more than describe a bank account. It points to a loyalty, a trust, even a kind of worship. And that’s where the conversation really begins. Read More

What If Your Struggles Were Actually Strengths?
by Westwinds Community Church on May 6th, 2025
Weakness isn’t something we usually celebrate. In fact, most of us do everything we can to avoid it. We hide our insecurities, patch up our flaws, and aim to look strong—even when we’re crumbling inside. But what if weakness was a doorway to something deeper, something more powerful?
That’s exactly what Paul seemed to believe. And it’s not just a throwaway line. He built his entire worldview around it. Read More

The Empty Tomb That Changed Everything
by Westwinds Community Church on May 5th, 2025
The resurrection of Jesus isn’t just a theological event—it’s an invitation. It calls us into a radically different way of seeing the world, one that challenges where we place our hope, our trust, and even our energy. It’s as if, in that moment, time split open and eternity seeped into the present, asking us the same question the angel asked the women at the tomb: “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5) Read More

Faith That Refuses To Stay Still
by Westwinds Community Church on March 17th, 2025
What if the biggest challenge to faith isn't belief—but imagination? For the early Jewish believers, the idea that Gentiles could receive God's Spirit was unthinkable. They had a framework for a Messiah. They understood God’s presence among them. But the notion that Yahweh was for everyone? That was world-shattering. Read More

Three Parables That Can Shape Your Faith
by Westwinds Community Church on March 17th, 2025
Jesus often taught using parables—simple stories with deeper meaning. In Matthew’s Gospel, He shares three parables that challenge us to reflect on how we live: the Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids, the Parable of the Talents, and the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats. Each one speaks to preparation, stewardship, and the way we love others.
But these aren't just old stories—they can help us navigate life’s uncertainties today. Are we prepared for the unexpected? Are we making the most of what we've been given? Are we living out our faith in real, tangible ways? Let’s dive into these parables and see how they still shape our faith today.
