8 Organizing Practices
We organize our church around eight practices passed on to us from Jesus:
Baptism & Remembering Our Baptism
Jesus began his public ministry by stepping into the waters of baptism (Matthew 3). We follow him into that practice as a sign of surrender and new life. Each baptism renews our shared commitment to lifelong transformation. Watch Pastor Phil’s message on baptism
Jesus in the Word
In Luke 24, the risen Jesus reinterprets the Scriptures for his disciples—showing how the whole story points to him. We read the Bible through that same lens: Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and rooted in community. Watch Pastor Cory’s teaching on the Jesus in the Word
Prayers of the People
When Jesus taught his disciples to pray (Matthew 6), he gave them shared words and a pattern of dependence, forgiveness, and hope. We pray like that too—together, trusting God with the needs of our community. Watch Pastor Cory’s teaching on Prayers of the People
A Table for Anyone
On the night he was betrayed (Luke 22), Jesus gathered his friends around bread and wine and offered them grace. That invitation still stands. This is Jesus’ table. If you’d like to be here, he’d love to have you. We’re learning to belong here—and to extend that same welcome at our own tables. Check out Pastor Cory’s message on the Table
Making & Keeping Commitments
Jesus called his followers to let their “yes” be yes (Matthew 5), modeling integrity and covenant faithfulness. We try to live the same way—by showing up, following through, and building trust with one another. Watch Pastor Josh’s teaching on the power of showing up here
Sharing Our Resources
The story of God is a story of generosity—from creation (Genesis 1), to the cross (John 3), to Jesus sending out his disciples with nothing but trust (Matthew 10). We give because everything we have is a gift meant to be shared. Check out Pastor Phil’s teaching on generous living here
Ministry of Reconciliation
Through Jesus we see that reconciliation is the story (Matthew 5), and Paul later commissioned Jesus’ followers to a ministry of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5: 18-19) We participate in God’s reconciling work – healing what’s broken —between people, within systems, and in our own lives. Check out our teaching on ministry of reconciliation here
Being with the littles, least, lost & lonely
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus makes space for those the world tends to ignore:
Children (Matthew 19), the poor and hungry (Matthew 25), the outsider (Luke 15), and the stranger (also Matthew 25). We go where he is– being with– offering presence—not performance. Watch Pastor Cory’s message on presence here
