SafeGuarding

Policies & Procedures

Part of what it means to be a church for anyone is being a safe place for anyone. We want Westwinds to be a community where people are treated with dignity, where the vulnerable are protected, and where abuse is taken seriously.

Over the last several years, we’ve been working intentionally to strengthen our safeguarding practices, policies, and culture. These policies reflect our commitment to prevention, accountability, survivor care, and creating environments where people can participate safely and confidently.

To make this information accessible, we’ve provided three versions of the same policy. Each version contains the same core commitments while offering different levels of detail depending on what you’re looking for:

Abuse Policy Brief

A one-page overview of our commitments, expectations, and approach to safeguarding.

Condensed Abuse Prevention & Safeguarding Policy

A practical summary that outlines key definitions, prevention measures, reporting procedures, and survivor care commitments.

Full Abuse Prevention & Safeguarding Policy

Our complete policy document, including detailed definitions, reporting protocols, accountability measures, survivor care practices, screening procedures, and response guidelines.
