Jesus in the Word
Jesus in the Word
One of the Practices That Helps Us Center Jesus
In Luke 24, the risen Jesus walks with His disciples and opens the Scriptures to them—revealing how the whole story points to Him.
From beginning to end, Scripture tells the story of Jesus: present at creation, born in flesh, crucified and risen, now glorified and reigning with the Father and Spirit as one God.
We read the Bible through that same lens: Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and rooted in community.
The Bible is called the written word because it centers the story of Jesus—His creation of the world, His incarnation into it, and His ultimate glorification.
But it’s more than a record of the past.
We call it the living word because we continue to encounter Jesus through it. The Spirit breathes through these ancient texts, and in a mysterious way, Scripture still brings Jesus to life in us and among us.
In that way, the Bible continues the incarnation—it helps us locate Jesus in our lives today. It draws us deeper into His story and invites us to become part of it.
This is why we read Scripture: not just to know about God, but to know Jesus in our deeper selves, and to be shaped by Him, together.
