Making and Keeping Commitments
Making and Keeping Commitments
One of the Practices That Helps Us Center Jesus
The first part of the Bible—what we call the Old Testament— tells the story of a God who makes a covenant with humanity… and keeps it. It’s a story of faithfulness across generations, and in Jesus, we see that commitment embodied.
Jesus is the Word made flesh— God’s promise with skin on.
When Jesus taught his followers to let their “yes” be yes (Matthew 5), he was inviting them into a life of integrity and participating in God’s covenant faithfulness. A life where words and actions align, and trust grows in community.
This is the heart of the story we find ourselves in: A God who comes close. A people learning to respond. To show up. To follow through. To build trust with one another.
Gather Regularly with Your Spiritual Family
Weekly worship is more than a routine—it’s a rhythm that recenters us on Jesus and nourishes our shared life. When we gather, we remember we don’t walk alone. This is our church. Our people. Our place to grow, belong, and contribute.
Set a goal to come 4 weeks in a row. If that seems like too much, try three. If that seems like too much… You get the point.
Join A Team
Every meal, every moment of worship, every warm welcome—it all happens because someone said yes.
Serving on a team is one way we practice generosity and hospitality together.
It’s less about filling a role and more about joining in the work God is already doing here.
From hospitality to the creative arts, from caring for kids to behind-the-scenes support, there’s a place for you– a place where your gifts can bless others, and where service becomes a source of life. Find your team at https://westwinds.org/teams.
