Silent Saturday
Saturday is the day when the Israelites, God’s people, would observe Sabbath, the day each week where they practiced rest. Silent Saturday is also the day Jesus descended into hell and defeated death. But the disciples didn’t know this was happening. For them, God was silent.
Everyone you meet is fighting a battle.
Some of us are fighting oppression for a more just world.
Some of us are fighting for our relationships with our children.
Some of us are fighting for our marriage.
Some of us are fighting for our mental health.
Some of us are fighting all these battles and more.
Remember that Jesus is fighting with us and for us.
What were the reminders that people received today?
“God pulls us out of our darkness, our personal Sheol. When we ask for his strength, he gives it to us. Our light and peace and most importantly rest for our soul comes only from God.”
“Even when I feel powerless and hopeless, and it feels like God is silent, I can be confident that he is with me, he loves me, and he will get me through anything.”
The battle has already been won, even when it seems silent.
So rest.
Recuperate.
And then take up your identity as a saint.
