Fig Monday
In observance of the first day of Holy Week, we invited people to a church service at the Interfaith Shelter. We reflected on the events of Fig Monday through the eyes of Saint Peter.
Like a fig tree, we are meant to provide good things for those around us. When something is producing bad things in our lives, we must let it die. This is why Jesus cursed the fig tree that was not bearing fruit.
Peter, when he saw things that were not fruitful, tried to fix them himself. But, he eventually learned, we cannot fix or save things through our own power.
In order to bear fruit for the world around us, We must first examine What God wants to do in us.
Like Peter, we must learn to work with God to grow good fruit in our own lives, so that we can love and serve others
What thing do you want to see made right in the world? What do you need to make right in your own life? How will you partner with God to right these things?
What did the people there learn?
“God spoke to me that I need to work on relationships and a personal internal calming.”
“Our community needs us. God’s word needs to be shared! My table craves healing and love! It was an amazing service and evening!”
